Krisp is noise-cancellation software — a virtual microphone that scrubs background sound from calls in real time, on your machine, in front of any meeting app. It’s the house benchmark here: every bout on this site is someone challenging it. What Krisp actually is (and the “Krisp AI” of it)
Install it and your system grows two new devices: Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker. Select them inside Zoom, Teams, Meet, Discord or the recruiter’s browser widget, and the app’s voice-isolation models — the “AI” in Krisp AI, doing statistical speech separation rather than anything mystical — rebuild your audio with the keyboard, traffic and espresso machine subtracted. Because it impersonates hardware, it doesn’t care which call app your employer standardised on. That app-agnosticism is the entire strategic idea, and the reason it survives every bout on this site.

Where it drops points
- The meter. 60 free minutes a day sounds generous until Monday: it counts cancellation-active minutes and resets at midnight GMT, not your midnight. Heavy call days defeat it by lunch.
- The mobile asterisk. “Krisp app” on a phone store gets you transcription, not cancellation. Buying the mobile app for quieter calls is a category error the branding invites.
- The doubling. $8 a month annual becomes $16 month-to-month. The pricing page is upfront; your card statement will be too.
- One more process. On an ageing laptop you’ll know it’s running. Lighter than a GPU tax, heavier than a toggle.
Krisp download, the honest section
The only download that should touch your machine comes from krisp.ai — the desktop app for Windows or macOS. No third-party mirror offers anything the vendor doesn’t, “portable” builds of microphone-resident software are a security joke, and the phone-store apps are the transcription products described above. Download, install, pick Krisp Microphone in your call app, and spend your first free hour on your noisiest recurring meeting — that’s the whole tryout.
